My name is Alison, and I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I specialise in helping neurodivergent clients with various profiles and needs, including those diagnosed and those unsure or self-identifying. I offer a safe, supportive relationship and the professional knowledge needed to help you understand yourself better following a diagnosis or answer questions you may have about who you are.
I have experience of helping autistic adults navigate the world of work, including where harm or trauma has been caused. I can combine therapy with careers-focused counselling if this is desirable. The world of work can pose great challenges, and it can be very rewarding for clients to make this important area of their lives work better for them.
I work in a trauma-informed way and I am also an experienced bereavement counsellor. My counselling approach is known as ‘integrative’, which means I combine a range of counselling theories in the way that I feel best suits each client. My style of working is based on a strong relationship, humour, warmth, empathy, kindness, consistency, challenge where necessary, and professional ethics and boundaries. I offer both long-term and short-term therapy (open-ended or up to 12 sessions).
Please click on ‘Services’ to find out more about my way of working. The FAQs page will hopefully answer any questions you may have. I am happy to answer queries by email and offer a short telephone call to prospective clients. The counselling sessions are online via video call, so you can access therapy from home or wherever you would like to talk. I work exclusively with adults aged over 18.
